DotBike is a social network
February 28, 2012 from 6:15pm to 8:30pm – Rabb Lecture Hall Boston Public Library

DotBike is a group of bike riders who live, work, play and/or learn in Dorchester, Mass. We are everyday bike commuters. We are occasional bikers. We are ironman competition bikers. We support more bike accommodation in our community. We are resolutely inclusive. You can be a dotbiker too. Just show up: at our online blog, a meeting, a ride, an event. You are invited – Jump in.
For the safety of our members and the health of the bike fleet, we will be taking the system off the street for the winter months. Beginning November 21, we will remove 5 stations per day until 11:59 PM on November 30 when the system officially closes. You will still be able to return bikes after that time but new rentals will not be allowed.
We will give 48 hours of notice preceding the take down of a station. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, on Twitter, and on the Hubway website news page for take down updates.

Yes it's true. The city has finally come through with the promised bike lanes on Dorchester Avenue. The lanes are nearly continuous from Glovers Corner up to Broadway in South Boston. And sharrows have been painted South of Glover's through fields corner at last report. This is great news. We're going to have an impromptu morning commute in ride tomorrow Friday Nov 4th in celebration of these lanes. So meet us at Ashmont Cycles at 7:30 or join in along the way.
Here is a pic courtesy of David of some of the actual paint going down.

The folks who prepared the DCR grant for the Neponset Greenway Completion have set up a great site with some photos, information and the grant narrative itself. Check it out HERE.
We sent our letter of support of the DCR TIGER III grant to complete the Neponset Greenway.
Thanks to all of you who signed on to the letter or sent one of your own. It's this type of community support that can really make a grant like this stand out and get the job done.
Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the grant is well received and gets funded. We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.
